Book launch for 'Midlands' by James Harris

In the early 2010s, waves of English-speaking comedians came to Berlin. What were they doing there? Now there’s a novel about them; about Anglophone comedians touring Germany, about expats and Germans, and about the weird excitement of the Germany of that time. ‘Midlands’ is a coming of age story about two interlinked lives, about love, loss and above all a love letter to the possibilities that Berlin allowed a generation of artists.

The evening will feature a curated discussion about the book with Berlin comedy legends Paul Salamone and Chris Davis, and the author will read extracts from the book.

Entrance is free and books €10. The books are provided with ten beautiful illustrations by London-based artist Ke Zuo.

James Harris is a writer and comedian from Nottingham, England. He has written for The Spectator, The New European, Conservative Home and writes regularly for The Critic. He writes the popular ‘Stiff Upper Quip’ Substack. ‘Midlands’ is his first novel; he lives in Brussels.
